Dr. Gail Weingast’s radiology background
June 18, 2021
Although she started her career unconventionally -- with a Spanish Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University -- Dr. Gail Weingast was focused on the medical field immediately after turning her tassel from undergraduate studies. Today, a radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, Weingast discovered her niche in radiology during her residencies following medical school. Earning her MD from Boston University’s School of Medicine in 1976, she first studies pediatrics during residency programs at Denver’s Colorado General Hospital in the years after graduation. But soon thereafter, in 1980, she began a three-year residency in radiology, and never looked back, with studies in radiology and ultrasound to follow that shaped her lifelong passion in medicine, bringing Weingast to various doctoral positions and her role at Backus Hospital currently.
