Dr. Gail Weingast Has Made a Career of Transforming Radiology

December 20, 2021

Back before Gail Weingast had earned the right to be called Dr. Gail Weingast, MD, she actually started her educational path by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Jackson College at Tufts University. Put simply, it is clear that becoming a great radiologist apparently wasn’t part of her life’s dream at the beginning. Something soon changed, however, and she decided to attend the Boston University School of Medicine. By 1976, she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast, MD and her path was clear. That has been good for everyone.

Of course, gaining the title was just the beginning. It wasn’t enough for Dr. Gail Weingast to become a doctor, she had to become the best in her profession. That is why she completed a two-year pediatrics internship and a two-year pediatrics residency before following that up with a three-year radiology residency and a fellowship in ultrasound technology, all at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. She then completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver, way back in 1984. These days, Dr. Gail Weingast serves as Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging at William W. Backus Hospital in Connecticut and she has transformed her department into one of the best in the nation.
