Dr. Gail Weingast Bio
September 25, 2016
It apparently wasn’t clear at the beginning that Gail Weingast wanted a career in medicine. Her first experience in higher education was earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts. It must have become clear to her soon, however, because she soon attended Boston University School of Medicine and officially became Gail Weingast MD in 1976.
Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast spent a lot of time at Denver’s Colorado General Hospital, where she completed an internship and a residency program in pediatrics, followed by a residency in radiology and a fellowship in ultrasound. Dr. Weingast completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist in 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver. She worked at several other hospitals, mostly in Colorado, but also in New York, before she settled into her current hospital, William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and one of the most prominent radiology specialists in the country.
